Cherri Rose's Backstory
Nestled deep within the wild heart of Yellowstone, Cherri Rose was born into a world painted with pine-scented breezes, running rivers, and the watchful eyes of her loving parents and older sister. She was the smallest in her litter, a fragile bundle of cream colored fur and soft breaths, barely a week old when the world she knew shattered.
One night, under a fractured moon, danger came not in the form of another predator, but something far worse—an illegal hunter. Silent, ruthless, and armed with more than just malice, the human invaded the peaceful den. Her parents, brave and fiercely protective, fought to defend their young. In the chaos, her mother, with a final desperate command, told her older daughter—Inscription, affectionately known as Script—to run and take Cherri with her.
Script, still not much more than a pup herself at 2 years old from a previous litter, obeyed. Clenching her jaw around Cherri’s tiny body, she fled into the brush as her parents held the hunter at bay. The forest echoed with yelps, gunfire, and then silence. The rest of the litter was taken. Only Cherri survived—because Script didn’t hesitate.
From that night on, the bond between them became something stronger than blood. When Cherri opened her eyes for the first time, blinking at the dappled light and the comforting blur of fur and warmth, it wasn’t her mother’s face she saw—it was Script’s. In that instant, the imprint formed. To Cherri, Script was her Mama. The only one she'd ever known.
Script, burdened by grief and guilt, never corrected her. She became everything to Cherri: sister, guardian, protector, teacher, mother. But more than that, she gave her warmth in the cold, comfort in nightmares, and love that came from a soul stitched with scars.
Even now, as Cherri grows into her paws—curious, bright-eyed, and full of untamed wonder—Script watches from the shadows, always on guard. Because she knows there are still hunters out there. And she’s already made her choice once. If it came down to it again, she’d choose Cherri every time.
